VietJetAir’s first of 100 A320s enters final assembly

Airbus has announced that the final assembly of VietJetAir’s first of up to 100 A320s on order is now underway in Toulouse, France; acquired by the airline under a deal finalised in February this year.

The acquisition plan covers firm orders for 63 aircraft, and purchase rights for 30 more. VietJetAir will lease seven more aircraft from third-party lessors.

The airline will take delivery of its new A320 fleet starting in Q4 of this year.  These new A320 aircraft will combine with an existing fleet of 15 leased A320s already in service with the fast-growing low-cost carrier and service the airline’s expanding network of domestic and regional services.
