In preparation of the long-awaited arrivals of the Apple Watch, SAS has now released an update to its mobile App which will send helpful travel information straight to passengers’ wrists. Apple Watch owners will get updates on their flight, including departure time and gate information.

“Our customers are increasingly making use of digital technology and our ambition is to be at the forefront of digital development. Our app is very popular, with over 1.3 million downloads. Use of our self-service facilities is continuously increasing and we know that our focus on digital development is something that our customers appreciate,” says Eivind Roald, Executive Vice President Commercial at SAS.
The updated SAS mobile app is now available from the App Store, Google Play and the Windows Phone Store. SAS passengers can use the full mobile app on their mobile phones to book flight tickets, check in, check the weather at their destination, and download selected reading materials to their smartphones–including daily news and magazines, thanks to a partnership with Readly which the airline launched on March 1 of this year.
This is a case of an airline getting well-ahead of technology. The Apple Watch itself is not yet available to pre-order in Scandinavia, with no date announced on when it might be. Still, once the unit is available, Scandinavian passengers who buy the Apple Watch will find the SAS app waiting for them, and non-Scandinavian passengers, who will get their Apple Watches sooner, can do so immediately.
The SAS mobile app works beautifully without the Apple Watch too.
