Airberlin Opens Its Ninth VIP Waiting Area, at Stuttgart Airport

airberlin has opened its latest ‘Exclusive Waiting Area’, at Stuttgart airport, giving Business Class passengers, Silver Status top bonus holders and passengers flying FlyFlex+ tickets somewhere quiet and comfortable to pass the time until boarding.

Not quite a lounge, but still a pleasant spot, the nearly 100 square meter Exclusive Waiting Area at Stuttgart can be found at Gate 310.

It seats 48, and offers leather chairs, free soft drinks and hot drinks, complimentary newspapers and magazines, and power outlets to charge up personal electronic devices.

Wi-Fi access is available at the airport, though the process to log-in is a bit convoluted. As the airport explains:

“We offer all passengers and guests free internet access for one hour throughout Stuttgart Airport. You receive the access data for the Wi-Fi at Stuttgart Airport in the form of a text message which is sent to your mobile phone – just request it from the HotSpot Portal provided by Telekom D GmbH. You can start surfing the web from your smartphone, tablet or laptop directly after having entered the access data.”

airberlin also shared an update on in-flight Wi-Fi installations for its fleet in this announcement.

“The connection to Abu Dhabi, offered since the end of 2014, is now firmly established. Passengers on the route can enjoy Wi-Fi service. This project was launched in Stuttgart, and it is the leader in this respect. The entire airberlin fleet will be equipped with Wi-Fi within the next few years,” says Stefan Magiera, Vice President Corporate Sales at airberlin.

airberlin’s other eight Exclusive Waiting Areas include two at Berlin Airport, and other Waiting Areas in Nuremberg, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Munich, Hamburg and Vienna.

“Currently we have around 100 flight departures per week in Stuttgart,” says Magiera.

Prof. Georg Fundel, Managing Director of Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH (FSG), says of airberlin’s newest VIP passenger comfort.

“The new airberlin waiting area here at Stuttgart Airport is a logical extension of the offer for the airline’s business and high-status customers. Business class guests can now wait comfortably until their departure time in a peaceful atmosphere. I am sure that the improved offer will elicit a good response from all frequent flyers of companies in Baden-Württemberg who fly with airberlin.”
