Finnair and Jetstar Asia Launch Codeshare Through Singapore

Finnair and Singapore-based Jetstar Asia have announced the launch of a new codeshare cooperation today will expand the choice of destinations and flight frequencies available to Finnair customers across Asia and Australia.

“We are delighted to start this codeshare cooperation that will leverage Jetstar’s Singapore hub, improving connectivity throughout Asia and improved access to Australia for our customers,” says Hannu Sundberg, Director of Partnerships, Finnair.

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi said: “The collaboration between Jetstar Asia and Finnair is a welcome enhancement towards the codeshare and interline model at Jetstar Asia.”

Finnair flies between 17 cities in Asia and 60 destinations in Europe, with onward connections avilable North America. It capitalises on fast and easy connections through Helsinki.

Jetstar Asia is part of the Jetstar Group of airlines, and, like Finnair, a member of the oneworld Alliance. The airline currently operates more than 600 weekly return flights to 26 destinations across 13 countries and territories in the Asia Pacific region.

Starting December 15 2015, Finnair customers will be able to travel on codeshare Jetstar Asia flights to and from its Singapore hub. The codeshare transfers Finnair’s baggage allowance and allows bags to be checked through to the final destination, with transfers through Changi International Airport.

Changi Airport Group’s Senior Vice President for Market Development, Mr Lim Ching Kiat, said, “Changi Airport welcomes the partnership between Finnair and the Jetstar Group. It enhances choice for European travellers to Southeast Asia and Australia through Singapore, and presents growth opportunities for both airlines, while strengthening Singapore’s air hub position.”

Finnair’s code also will be added to Jetstar Asia’s flights between Singapore; Penang and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam; Phuket in Thailand; and Perth and Darwin in Australia.

Customers can already make flight reservations for JetStar codeshare itineraries with the Finnair flight code.
