Flyover Day Fever: Big Picture on Qatar Airways Sydney Launch

Qatar Airways launched its service to Sydney this week in typical Qatar Airways fashion: with flyovers, a river of red carpet, stars, and an embarrassment of roses.

The Doha to Sydney route becomes the airline’s third gateway into Australia. The Boeing 777-300 serving the route will fly daily from Doha to Sydney. Qatar Airways has been served Melbourne since 2009, adding flights to Perth in 2012.

European Airports ‘Off to a Good Start’ in 2016, but Norway Aviation Tax a Concern

Airports Council International—Europe (ACI-EUROPE) reports that European airports, on average, have started the year 6.3% ahead of 2015, but warns that the proposed aviation tax in Norway could hurt the economy.

The average increase in passenger traffic was 6.9%

16 airports in EU Member states had double digit growth. “This was the strongest monthly rate in almost two years,” the airports association states.

Non-EU airports reported slower growth of 4.3%
