Airbus and TAP Portugal have announced an agreement between them at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg which will make TAP Portugal the first airline to fly the new A330-900neo and the launch customer for the Airspace by Airbus cabin.
Airbus Senior VP Marketing François Caudron emphasised that the new Airspace cabin will be an ideal complement to TAP’s new branding launch.
“Airspace encompasses four pillars: Comfort, Ambience, Services and Design and will ensure that Airbus cabins continue to be the benchmark in passenger experience and airline value.”–François Caudron
TAP’s Chief Commercial Officer, Trey Urban, said of the airline’s decision to adopt the Airspace by Airbus cabin:
“Our passengers and flight-crews eagerly look forward to experiencing this innovative new cabin design. Furthermore, the Airspace cabin represents an exciting and flexible canvas onto which we can project the TAP brand.”
The new A330-900 Airspace by Airbus aircraft will be outfitted with a new Recaro Business Class seat and Recaro Economy seating, including an Economy Plus section offering passengers more legroom.
TAP’s new A330neo cabins will feature the Airspace by Airbus signature welcome area; mood LED-based programmable lighting system which offers 16.7 million possible colour variations; larger overhead bins to more adequately accommodate carry-on luggage; new contemporary lavatories and the latest-generation In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) and In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) Wi-Fi offerings.
The Airspace cabin also includes environmental controls to improve passenger wellbeing in flight.
Signature details and iconic elements which characterise an Airspace by Airbus cabin will be further enhanced by TAP’s custom trim and decor to complement its new brand image.
