Tyler Kicks Off IATA Ops, Copenhagen with Emphasis on Communications

At the first Plenary Session of the IATA Ops Conference in Copenhagen, Tony Tyler, IATA’s Director General and CEO, urged better communication among aviation stakeholders.

Tyler highlighted a need to adapt to today’s more Social customer, and to communicate with policymakers on progress needed in infrastructure. He also cautioned against governments implementing unilateral regulations without dialogue on the potential impact to airlines and flyers.

“There is no question that we are adept at talking to each other and making our views known on the technical ins and outs of things like Performance-Based Navigation, and Required Navigation Performance. We’ve been less successful in advocating with politicians who ultimately control the purse strings for essential infrastructure investments and structural changes,” said Tyler.
