SilkAir Upgrades Wireless IFE Catalogue

SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will upgrade its wireless IFE (in-flight entertainment) system with a larger catalogue of content available.

The SilkAir Studio wireless IFE system complements the airline’s existing overhead IFE. Passengers travelling onboard SilkAir flights will find more international movies, television shows and music with available on SilkAir Studio, which passengers can access wirelessly on their personal electronic devices via in-flight Wi-Fi.

SilkAir Studio’s new catalogue will include over 100 international films and 40 television shows, a marked increase from the previous offering of 30 movies and 20 television programmes.

Passengers will now be able to choose from a wider variety of popular films such as ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,’ ‘Interstellar’ and the ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘Harry Potter’ series, as well as family favourites like ‘The LEGO Movie’ and ‘Storks’.

The airline has added more hours of popular television shows available for streaming, including ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Fresh Off the Boat,’ ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and other hit shows.

Apple device users must download the SilkAir Studio mobile application before boarding. Android device users can download the app even while onboard.

“We look forward to our customers enjoying more movies and TV selections while flying with us. This is part of our ongoing commitment to make SilkAir a Joy to Fly,” said Mr Foo Chai Woo, Chief Executive of SilkAir.

The airline introduced SilkAir Studio in 2014 as a complimentary passenger experience enhancement for its customers. It is part of the full-service experience that SilkAir offers, which also includes in-flight meals, baggage allowance and Business and Economy Class cabin options.
