Tailor Made Experiences
SAS says trend analysis shows that more passengers desire experiences that are tailor-made for them, a greater range of options to personalize their journey. That trend led to the introduction of this new meal option.
The airline introduced pre-order meal options on short-haul flights in 2016 and they have proven popular. The pre-order options for short-haul SAS Go have grown to a choice of 11 meals and demand grew by 25% in 2017 when SAS served 120,000 meals. This year, SAS introduced pre-order meals on flights in Scandinavia and Europe that were at least 80 minutes long (down from 120 minutes prior).
SAS also sees pre-order as an effective way to better gauge demand for meals and avoid food waste.
