In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity Market Will Be Worth $9.82 Billion by 2024, Report

In a recently released report, San Francisco-based Grand View Research, Inc. projects the global In-Flight Entertainment And Connectivity (IFEC) market will reach USD 9.82 billion by 2024.

“The emergence of BYOD and development of novel wireless solutions are expected to boost market growth,” the research group states. “The increasing commercial aviation & fleet expansion have further bolstered industry growth. Growing availability of HD content across dynamic platforms are expected to increase IFEC systems’ demand.”

Gogo 2Ku Wi-Fi Goes Live On Aeromexico Flights

Gogo’s high-speed 2Ku connectivity is now live on select Aeromexico Boeing and Embraer aircraft, the company has announced.

The first aircraft to fly with Gogo’s 2Ku technology is an Aeromexico Boeing 737-800 aircraft serving destinations in the Americas. The airline will offer the Gogo 2Ku service free of charge during a limited introductory period.

To mark the 36th anniversary of the airline’s partnership with the Cannes film festival, Air France introduces Cinema to Go, a service which lets passengers finish enjoying their in-flight films after the flight has landed.

Passengers will be able to use a gift code issued by the airline to access their in-flight film on a smartphone, tablet or PC.

Zodiac Sheds Good Light On Problematic Cabin Hygiene

Zodiac Aerospace has filed an ingenious patent for a comprehensive UV lighting system which would cleanse the whole of an aircraft cabin while the aircraft is unoccupied—between flights or on an overnight.

In the patent—one of AeroPatent’s recent discoveries—Zodiac proposes a number of UV lighting combinations which could do the work of thoroughly disinfecting the aircraft interior. The system described would effectively disinfect both the air in the cabin and cabin surfaces, textiles, etc.
