Hamburg Aviation Recognised as “Landmark in the Land of Ideas 2016”

Hamburg Aviation has been recognised for its successful networking in the aviation community and promotion of innovation receiving a prize as one of 100 “Landmarks in the Land of Ideas 2016” in the “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative.

The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and Deutsche Bank honour ideas that promote a sense of community, cooperation and networking with an emphasis on collaboration, helping to solve present and future challenges.

Airbus Chairman Hints at New Single Aisle Plane, But What Size?

    While greeting press gathered for Airbus Innovation Days in Hamburg, Klaus Richter, Chief Procurement Officer, Airbus and Chairman of the Board for Airbus Germany, caught our attention when highlighting the importance of Hamburg in the group’s plans by saying, “If there’s a new plane it will be a single aisle plane.”

    Richter mentioned Hamburg’s growing development capabilities in fields of research into new materials, through the ZAL Technical Centre, and also significant in-house capabilities including for full-sized aircraft simulations. As he said, all in the interest of “shooting for a single aisle development that needs to enter the market.”

    City of Hamburg Invests in the Future of Aerospace with State of the Art Research Centre

    The Hanseatic city of Hamburg has invested in the future of aviation by opening a state of the art aeronautical research centre which will foster new technologies to improve the aerospace industry.

    The new 26,000 square metre ZAL TechCenter of Applied Aeronautical Research will house up to 600 specialising in fields of research such as fuel cells, aircraft cabin technology, 3D printing, Industry 4.0/Internet of Things (IoT), acoustics, and virtual reality.
