Marketing Policy

Flight Chic is an informative airline industry news site. Flight Chic reports independently. All posts are original Flight Chic reporting and editorial or updates on the industry based on Press Releases.

At times, companies and organisations may cover Flight Chic’s travel expenses to airline industry events. My participation in these events is based solely on whether it will be of news interest to readers. Any coverage of travel expenses will not influence whether I write, how I write, or what I think.

Readers can be confident that my opinions and reviews are always independent.

You may have heard about the new General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), that comes into effect May 25, 2018. To help comply with GDPR consent requirements, anyone subscribing to Flight Chic updates must confirm they want to receive content from Flight Chic.

In addition to maintaining the Flight Chic site, Flight Chic publishes a weekly newsletter that is sent to subscribers on Sunday. It highlights stories that shaped the previous week in aviation.

Any individual data that readers share when they sign up for the Flight Chic weekly newsletter is kept confidential and NOT shared with advertisers.

When they sign up for Flight Chic weekly newsletter, subscribers are NOT agreeing to receive additional mailings (marketing or otherwise) from advertisers.

Visitor Statistics, Comments and Automated Services

Some features, like site analytics, will use personal data from your registration to measure overall website interaction by known personal details like region and demographics. Flight Chic does not share this data with third parties, except in aggregate. In other words, if a partner asked about Flight Chic’s readership, I might elect to divulge information like total weekly, monthly, or annual visitors. I may also share what share details, such as what countries have the greatest share of readership. I do not share individual data with third parties.

By default, WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However, when you leave comments on Flight Chic posts, your comments are tied to whatever personal data you share, and will be visible to anyone visiting the website. If you would ever like to delete comments that you have previously posted, you can do so by contacting me directly. Visitor comments may also be checked through a third-party automated spam detection service when you post.

When visitors leave comments on the site you will also be sharing your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here.  When your comment is approved, whatever picture you set as your profile picture on Gravatar is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. Flight Chic does not control how these third parties, like YouTube, manage their data privacy and suggests that you visit those websites for further details. Flight Chic does not receive nor store this data.
