The business aviation industry is continually looking for skilled aircraft maintenance technicians. To shed light on the career opportunities in this field, the 2023 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) is introducing its first-ever Aircraft Maintenance Competition.

Previously showcased at events like the NBAA Miami-Opa locka Regional Forum and the NBAA Maintenance Conference, this groundbreaking competition is set to take place on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The event will spotlight five robust teams, each comprised of five enthusiastic students, eagerly taking on a myriad of aircraft maintenance challenges to showcase their prowess.
Aircraft Maintenance Students Show Off their Skills
The aircraft maintenance tasks include intricate activities such as safety wiring, cable rigging, and electrical troubleshooting. Participants will also delve into virtual aircraft towing/ground handling and a meticulous general visual inspection. With each task allocated 15 minutes, participants are bound to be on their toes!
Hailing from the renowned Aviation Institute of Maintenance in New Jersey and Las Vegas, these students will engage in this riveting competition at Central Hall, Booth No. 6725. From 1-4 p.m., the session promises to be a visual treat for NBAA-BACE attendees. Make sure to mark your calendar to witness this! Post the heart-racing competition, a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. will honor the winners with deserving accolades and prizes.
Careers in Business Aviation Maintenance
Stewart D’Leon, CAM, the NBAA Director of Environmental and Technical Operations, emphasized, “There’s no better way to get students enthusiastic about careers in business aviation maintenance than by allowing them to experience firsthand the wide range of tasks aircraft maintenance technicians perform daily. Thank you to Sean Gallagan of Aviation Workforce Solutions, who is helping organize and run the competition. We know it’s going to be a fun and enlivening addition to the exhibit hall.”
But the fun doesn’t end there! Apart from the much-awaited competition, participants will engage in a short aircraft maintenance general familiarization course scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 17. This will blend classroom insights and practical experiences at the Henderson Executive Airport (HND) outdoor aircraft display. Here, students can take part in a walk-around inspection of a sleek Bombardier aircraft.
NBAA-BACE, scheduled from Oct. 17-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Henderson Executive Airport, is your portal to futuristic technologies and a fresh perspective on business aviation. Expect a grand display of the latest in business aviation aircraft, avant-garde products, and impeccable services.
