Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) inaugurated a new engine shop at Orly (virtual tour). This state-of-the-art facility is the culmination of the Single Roof project initiated in 2019.

Milestone Achievements: The Journey of the Single Roof Project
The Single Roof project aimed to set AFI KLM E&M as an industry leader in Engine Maintenance. It is particularly suited for next-gen products, including LEAP (for A320neo & 737MAX), Trent XWB (A350), and PW1500G (A220). Expected to be completed by early 2024, the project also encompasses the renovation of Building 34 (Henri Farman). It will seamlessly connect with the new structure.
An Investment Geared Towards a Sustainable Tomorrow
The Single Roof maintenance facility significantly enhances AFI KLM E&M’s engine maintenance capabilities. The project combines the Constellation and Henri Farman workshops, optimizing operational efficiency and reducing engine processing times by 15%. The building’s design will also reduce the MRO facility’s carbon footprint.
With a 4,200m² space fitted with cutting-edge industrial resources, the new building also supports aviation decarbonization. It’s equipped to maintain the next-generation engines, which reduce aviation’s carbon footprint.
Fostering Employment and Fostering Dreams
AFI KLM E&M’s new facility in Orly is also a commitment to the Ile-de-France community. The Single Roof project will create job opportunities and foster aviation career pathways for local youth through an apprenticeship program.
Géry Mortreux, EVP of Air France Industries, explains the vision of the Single Roof project. “Single Roof is more than just an industrial development project. It speaks to AFI KLM E&M’s desire to project its Engine Maintenance operations into the future when the industry turns a corner toward new-generation platforms. Single Roof also promises efficiency and comfort for our teams. Thanks to optimized working spaces designed with their users in mind. It also manifests AFI KLM E&M’s long-term involvement in the local area and the desire to boost employment and develop future talents.”
