The same Airbus and Boeing planes that airlines fly are transformed into flying palaces. These private airliner jets serve the needs of high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and heads of state.
Creating the interior of these VVIP jet cabins can be both complex and expensive. Aircraft manufacturers, top designers, and completion centers like Lufthansa Technik have developed core design themes to simplify the process. These themes allow future private jet owners to choose the style that best suits their needs. It’s all about crafting a personalized and remarkable experience in the skies.
Lufthansa Technik’s CelestialSTAR: A Modern Flying Palace on the Largest Private Jets
Lufthansa Technik AG has recently unveiled a luxurious CelestialSTAR VVIP cabin interior designed specifically for the Boeing Business Jet 777-9. This exquisite design has been meticulously crafted to cater to the discerning requirements of VVIPs and esteemed heads of state. With an expansive space of over 3,660 square feet, the designers had ample room to bring their creative vision to life. Aircraft owners experience unparalleled comfort and opulence in this impressive aircraft cabin.
Revealed for the Dubai Airshow, the CelestialSTAR design is influenced by the Middle East’s cultural heritage with a modern twist.
“With CelestialSTAR, Lufthansa Technik’s design team aims to emphasize both the contemporary purity and the typical Middle Eastern geometric design patterns as well as the vastness and openness of the sky: a reminiscence not only of the widest cabin among all newly available VVIP aircraft types but also of the diversity in the Middle Eastern philosophy,” Lufthansa Technik explains.
The CelestialSTAR Pampering Cocoon Suite
The cabin offers a private suite with separate sleeping and bathroom areas and a dedicated workspace. This versatile setup allows VVIPs to enjoy privacy and comfort with a spacious king-sized bed and a luxurious rain and massage shower that can accommodate two people. Look at the stunning CelestialSTAR private bathroom in the cocoon suite, featuring the largest massage rain shower available in the skies.
The spacious shower in this aircraft is a true luxury, considering the limited water supply on planes. You may not know this, but water is heavier than jet fuel. Specifically, jet fuel weighs 6.84 pounds per gallon, while water weighs 8.35 pounds per gallon. Due to the weight constraints of an aircraft during takeoff and flight, carrying large water tanks can affect the aircraft’s performance. However, the BBJ 777-9 technical specifications allow for such amenities. The cabin design of the CelestialSTAR is based on the Boeing Business Jets’ BBJ 777-9, ensuring that it meets all the necessary certifications and safety requirements for operation.
CelestialSTAR Immersive Entertainment Center
Borrowed from Lufthansa Technik’s EXPLORER cabin concept, this entertainment room offers a unique and immersive experience. It can transform into a wellness and entertainment zone with state-of-the-art projection technology. Its impressive 180° projection capabilities can transport you to stunning travel destinations or captivate you with mesmerizing digital art on a large cinema screen. The room features rotating and sliding lamellae that allow natural light to flood in and create a sense of spaciousness and connectivity. Passengers will enjoy a world of relaxation and entertainment in this remarkable space.
Work And Balance: CelestialSTAR
Adjacent to the Cocoon Suite, the Work & Balance area is designed to make the most of cabin space while offering multifunctional benefits. This versatile zone provides a spacious VVIP desk where guests can hold meetings or create a more intimate setting by rearranging seating. With cleverly integrated swivel mechanisms, the table surfaces can be expanded as required, while the elegant trapezoidal wall niches add a touch of sophistication. Passengers enjoy a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics in this exclusive Work & Balance space.
The Celestial Lounge is the aircraft’s lobby, providing a grand entrance experience. It features an integrated bar and stylish seating arrangements. The intermediate doors can be closed for privacy or left open to the adjacent conference and dining area to create a greater spaciousness.
CelestialSTAR Conference and Dining Area
This versatile space serves multiple purposes, functioning as a traditional majlis, a Middle Eastern gathering room, as well as a dining and conference area. It can accommodate various seating configurations with its eleven individual seats that can rotate. Additionally, advanced communication technology is integrated to ensure seamless connectivity for passengers.
Suites and Seats For The Entourage
Recognizing the unique requirements of Middle Eastern royal families and their entourages, the cabin’s second half has been specially designed to meet their needs. This includes comfortable accommodations for advisory staff and other personnel. Luxurious Deluxe Suites are available for distinguished guests in the Entourage Area. The Executive Area provides 32 comfortable business-class seats for other high-ranking entourage members. Additionally, a spacious premium economy cabin can cater to even more guests.

Inside: The Airbus ACJ TwoTwenty VIP Jet
During the NBAA-BACE event, Airbus unveiled various cabin options for its Airbus Corporate Jets TwoTwenty aircraft. This remarkable VVIP jet, based on the Airbus A220 aircraft, offers its owners a luxurious and personalized flying experience. The design themes have been carefully curated to simplify the selection process and expedite the completion of the aircraft.
Sylvain Mariat, ACJ’s Head of Creative Design, collaborated with Comlux completions in Indianapolis to create an innovative and functional cabin design. The aircraft offers different lifestyle zones for dining, resting, meetings, entertainment, and sleep.
Despite being a smaller airliner-category jet, the ACJ TwoTwenty still provides ample space. There is a well-appointed shower onboard, ideally suited for one person. Aircraft owners will enjoy luxury and comfort in the ACJ TwoTwenty’s bedroom suite. There, they can relax and unwind during the flight.
ACJ Ambiance Design
ACJ customers have the unique opportunity to personalize their aircraft using pre-selected “Ambiances.” The manufacturer has created the ACJ TwoTwenty online design tool. It speeds up this customization process, allowing future owners to play with their private jet concept. ACJ representatives will collaborate closely with customers to finalize the details that will make their jet truly one-of-a-kind.
Jets For the Most Affluent
Airliner-class private jets offer an enhanced range and spacious onboard accommodations for guests, surpassing those of other VIP jets. However, it’s important to note that these jets have certain limitations. They require runways suitable for their size and weight during takeoff and landing. Nevertheless, owners can use a helicopter or a smaller jet to access remote locations.
Some VVIPs may prefer to design their aircraft from scratch. But, having access to a pre-approved design platform can result in substantial cost savings in materials and labor. It will also ensure the aircraft’s certification. As a result, the most affluent members of the jet-set community enjoy their high-flying palaces sooner.
