Brussels Airlines has added a tenth Airbus A330 to its fleet, reaffirming its commitment to growth in the Sub-Saharan African region. This expansion will enable the airline to reintroduce the Nairobi route and increase the frequency of flights to Kigali. As a result, Brussels Airlines will offer connections to 18 destinations in Sub-Saharan Africa. The airline is hiring ground staff and crew to support these routes.
Alitalia has been undergoing a makeover since Etihad acquired a controlling share, revamped the business, and put Etihad people in house to monitor the evolving situation. In fact, Alitalia has reduced its loses in 2015 by a respectable €381 million.
But it’s still losing money.
The airline indicates it is: “on track for profitability by 2017..[with] strong 2015 performance.”
In the aftermath of what began as a horrifying week, Brussels Airport has announced that it will remain closed through and including March 27. Brussels Airlines, meanwhile, has begun offering flights at nearby secondary airports.
