WestJet’s New Winter Schedule: Routes, Dates, and More

    The WestJet Group operates 230 direct routes from Canada to the southern U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America during winter. 

    WestJet has made key routes available year-round to maintain connectivity to popular international and domestic destinations. 

    The airline’s growth strategy includes new year-round domestic connectivity to major markets in Atlantic Canada.

    WestJet has released its new winter schedule, providing Canadians with many options for winter getaways and continuing important domestic and international routes all year round.

    “This year’s winter schedule is about providing Canadians with what they want: affordable sun destination getaways from across Canada; enhanced domestic connectivity from coast-to-coast; and the assurance that some of our most popular routes, previously operated exclusively in the summer, are available year-round,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer.

    As part of WestJet’s growth plan, the airline is offering more cost-effective vacation options this winter and introducing new routes to favorite sunny escapes. 

    WestJet’s winter schedule includes four new and four returning routes, with over 85 daily departures to sunny destinations from various communities in Canada.

    WestJet is gifting travelers with even more year-round options. They are extending two pivotal domestic routes from the heart of Calgary to the charming eastern cities of Moncton and St. John’s.

    Exploring WestJet Group’s Flight Power

    Sunseekers and leisure flyers will delight as the WestJet Group’s Sunwing Airlines also cranks up the heat this winter. WestJet and Sunwing combined will offer the most seats of all Canadian airlines across 230 nonstop routes. 

    Originating from 26 Canadian communities, these routes will whisk you away to 55 of the most sought-after sun-drenched destinations in the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, and even Central America. Winter has never looked warmer!

    Through its recently published winter schedule, Sunwing continues to demonstrate a strong focus on the leisure brand’s eastern roots, increasing its capacity in Atlantic Canada by 26 percent, Quebec by 15 percent, and Ontario by 9 percent when compared to 2022.

    WestJet’s New Winter Schedule Reaffirms Commitment to St. Johns

    The airline’s growth plan increases St. John’s domestic connectivity with new year-round service to Calgary. 

    WestJet announced its 2023/24 winter schedule today, which includes new year-round service to Calgary from St. John’s for the first time and resuming popular flights to Florida.

    WestJet’s New Winter 2023 Schedule

    WestJet announced new investments in St. John’s today at a special event at the local airport. Notable attendees include Premier Andrew Furey of Newfoundland and Labrador, Mayor Danny Breen of St. John’s, and Dennis Hogan, CEO of the St. John’s International Airport Authority.

    “The establishment of a direct route between St. John’s and Calgary is welcome news for our government. This connectivity will aid business and trade and will benefit the travel and tourism industry, as well. I look forward to a continued partnership with WestJet and thank them and the St. John’s International Airport Authority for this achievement,” said the Honorable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.

    “We are delighted that WestJet’s non-stop route to Calgary is now flying year-round,” said Dennis Hogan, Chief Executive Officer of the St. John’s International Airport Authority. “There are deep economic and cultural ties between Newfoundland and Labrador and Alberta, which will be further strengthened by this announcement. This expansion of service is also a commitment from WestJet that St. John’s is a market in their overall growth strategy, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.”

    The WestJet Group’s Atlantic Canada Connections Grow

    As part of the WestJet Group, Sunwing Airlines is enhancing flying options across Canada. The WestJet Group, including WestJet and Sunwing Airlines, will offer the most seats from Canada to popular sunny destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America this winter. 

    With its recent winter schedule, Sunwing is focusing on its eastern roots, increasing capacity in Atlantic Canada by 26 percent compared to 2022.

      1. I’m afraid that the published Winter schedule did not include aircraft type so I can’t answer your question directly. That said, each flight search includes the aircraft type in the results. There are many WestJet holiday destinations flown on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and you can select a flight schedule where that aircraft serves the route. From what I found searching, longer flights operate on the Boeing 787. Hope this helps!
