Progress For Alitalia On Etihad Airways Turn-Around Road Map

“Few airlines have undergone such radical change as the new Alitalia and it is now reaping the benefits of a robust new strategy built around dynamic and effective partnerships. After some difficult and challenging years, Alitalia has a great story to tell. We promised to create a world-class airline,” said Alitalia Vice Chairman James Hogan. “We are delivering on that promise and Alitalia today is as good as any airline in Europe.”

Etihad Airways Makes Critical Appointment of New GM for China

Etihad Airways announced the critical appointment of Mr. Peter Li as the airline’s new General Manager for China.

Mr Peter LiMr. Peter Li will lead the development of the airlines’ commercial strategy in China, and be responsible to strengthen Etihad Airways’ partnerships within the travel trade and with corporate customers.

Alitalia Loses A Lotta Less: €381 Million Less, To Be Exact

    Alitalia has been undergoing a makeover since Etihad acquired a controlling share, revamped the business, and put Etihad people in house to monitor the evolving situation. In fact, Alitalia has reduced its loses in 2015 by a respectable €381 million.

    But it’s still losing money.

    The airline indicates it is: “on track for profitability by 2017..[with] strong 2015 performance.”

    Partnerships More Important than Ever, Says Etihad CEO

    In his keynote address to the Global Aerospace Summit, held as part of the Abu Dhabi Aviation and Aerospace Week, James Hogan, President and Chief Executive of Etihad Airways said partnerships are more important than ever in a global economy.

    “To become a competitive global network carrier today is incredibly challenging,” Hogan said. “Partnerships allow us to compete effectively and give us scale and differentiation, as well as reducing cost and delivering major benefits, including operational cooperation, more consumer choice and competition, and job creation.”

    Etihad Fights Airberlin Codeshare Decision in German Courts

      Etihad Airways has launched legal action in a bid to overturn a German court’s decision to revoke the approval for the 29 flights it codeshares with airberlin, which approval expires on 15 January 2016.

      Etihad has argued that the court’s decision threatens competition and severely restricts consumer choice in the market. The airline filed a notice of appeal in the higher administrative court in Lüneburg today.
