Etihad Airways Marks Ramadan With New Iftar Menu

Etihad Airways shares the spirit of Ramadan with unique in-flight and lounge offerings.

Etihad Airways Ramadan Iftar menu

Etihad Airways is celebrating Ramadan by offering unique amenities to passengers starting on March 10. Travelers can enjoy curated Iftar meals and dedicated prayer areas in the airline’s premium lounges and on flights to select destinations. The initiative aims to enhance the travel experience during the holy month.

A Time to Reflect and Spread Kindness

Turky Al Hammadi, Head of Product and Hospitality at Etihad Airways, said: “Ramadan holds a special place in our hearts. It’s a time to reflect and to spread kindness. We are committed to sharing these Ramadan values across all touchpoints of our guests’ journey, from our lounges to onboard experiences.

Etihad Airways’ In-flight Iftar Menu

“For our Iftar menu this year, our culinary team has carefully crafted special Ramadan dishes that aim to evoke heartwarming traditions, blending traditional Emirati flavors with a modern twist,” Hamadi said. “Our commitment to premium and sustainable ingredients is reflected in our choice of locally sourced suppliers, ensuring our guests enjoy high-quality, tasty dishes that also support the local economy and have a lesser impact on the environment.

“Our Iftar menu contains dishes like the lamb bukhari with smoked cardamom yoghurt, pulled chicken machbous pinza with chaami cheese and pickled onion, and warm umm ali dessert and olive oil and date cake. Our menus are designed to ensure that our guests savour the richness of traditional Ramadan meals while also maintaining nutritional balance.”

Ramadan on Board

Etihad offers a special menu for Ramadan, featuring premium cabin delicacies like lentil soup, lamb meatballs with saffron rice, and umm ali dessert. For lighter fare, a healthy Iftar salad is available.

Economy class passengers get Arabic mezze, braised lamb with vermicelli rice, and Vimto mousse for dessert.

Iftar bags with traditional snacks are provided for those breaking their fast during the flight. Dedicated prayer areas and Qibla pointers are available for religious observances.

Ramadan Food and Beverage Menu in Etihad Airways Lounges

Etihad’s lounges in Abu Dhabi, New York, Washington DC, and London Heathrow offer traditional Ramadan refreshments and Iftar meals. Guests can enjoy beverages like laban, Vimto, and rose milk as well as a variety of Arabic dishes such as harira soup, lobster machbous ravioli, and chicken biryani for iftar. The dessert offerings include modern takes on traditional treats like Vimto cheesecake and rangeena.

Ramadan on Etihad Airways E-BOX IFE

The airline has enhanced its E-BOX entertainment system for Ramadan with a special selection of programming. This includes religious content, an audio of the Holy Quran, and new shows like Rehlat Haya, promoting happiness and stability. Additionally, there’s Chef Bil Bait, a cooking show with Al-Halabi and guest artists, as well as the El Dunia Ramadan series that highlights the diverse celebrations of Ramadan across various cultures.

Etihad Guests Can Donate Miles For Good

Etihad Guest members can donate their miles to good causes, spreading kindness and supporting communities worldwide.

During the holy month of Ramadan, Etihad Airways is encouraging its members to donate their miles to “The Reach Campaign” via the Etihad Guest website, to aid families impacted by river blindness and lymphatic filariasis.

“We have seen the generosity of our guests with over 250 million miles donated to a range of causes through the Etihad Guest program to date. It’s initiatives like these that truly embody the spirit of generosity and compassion that Ramadan represents,” Hammadi said.

Ramadan In Abu Dhabi

Travelers arriving in Abu Dhabi during Ramadan can immerse themselves in the local culture by joining Iftar gatherings at hotels and tents, visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and enjoying sunset walks along the Corniche.
