American Airlines is giving travelers another reason to arrive at the airport early this summer, rolling out upgraded food and beverage offerings across its Flagship and Admirals Club lounges. The airline says the changes are designed to create a more restaurant-inspired experience, with expanded menus, premium wines, QR-code ordering and interactive food stations.

The refresh comes as competition among airline lounges intensifies, with carriers increasingly using premium ground experiences to attract high-value travellers.
Flagship Lounges Get More Premium Dining Options
In American’s Flagship Lounges, travellers will find a broader selection of small plates and à la carte dishes, alongside enhancements to the airline’s premium wine program. New interactive food stations, including a cheesemonger cart, are intended to bring a more personalised dining experience to the lounge.

American has also expanded its QR-code ordering system to all Flagship Lounges after a successful trial in Philadelphia. Customers can now order select premium dishes directly from their seats using their mobile devices.

Among the seasonal summer offerings highlighted by the airline are:
- Roasted carrot and whipped feta salad
- Pineapple carpaccio
- Stir-fried pepper steak
- Summer watermelon feta salad
- Crispy chicken and cornbread waffle
- Acai bowl
- Power kale Caesar salad
These dishes will rotate as part of the airline’s seasonal menu strategy.
Admirals Club Menus Receive a Summer Refresh
American is also upgrading dining options in its Admirals Club network, which serves travelers at more than 30 airports.
The airline has enhanced its charcuterie offerings and introduced new hot meal selections designed to provide more substantial dining options for travelers before boarding.

Featured summer menu items include:
- Lemon herb chicken mac and cheese bars in Denver, St. Louis and Toronto
- Chipotle lime chicken in Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and Nashville
- Coconut turmeric chickpea and vegetable curry in Miami
- Build-your-own breakfast tostadas in Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham and Washington National
- Rustic zucchini and flame-roasted corn in several West Coast lounges including Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco
The airline has also expanded premium wine selections available in both lounge concepts.
Part of a Broader Premium Strategy
The lounge dining enhancements form part of American Airlines’ wider investment in premium travel experiences. The carrier has increasingly focused on upgrading both its airport lounges and onboard products, including the introduction of new Flagship Suite cabins on long-haul aircraft.
The goal is to provide travellers with more variety, more complete meal options and greater flexibility in how they dine before their flights.
“Whether travellers are looking for a light bite or a more wholesome meal, the refreshed menus and enhanced presentation create a better dining experience tailored to a variety of tastes and travel occasions,” the airline states in its announcement.
For frequent flyers, the result is an airport lounge experience that increasingly resembles a premium restaurant rather than a traditional pre-flight waiting area.
