Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, joins forces with Air Serbia to offer a wider range of European destinations.

With the new partnership, Etihad’s clientele is now privy to streamlined travel options to 12 destinations via Air Serbia’s hub in Belgrade, including nine cities previously not part of Etihad’s network. This expanded access underscores Etihad’s ongoing initiative to bring more tourists to Abu Dhabi, the airline’s vibrant home base.

The codeshare deal will simplify the customer journey, enabling a unified booking system and a smooth check-in experience for travelers flying with Etihad. Passengers can expect convenient luggage handling, with bags automatically sent through to their end-point without hassle.

The collaboration opens Air Serbia’s expanding route network to Etihad’s customers, offering them easy connections from Etihad’s established European gateways, including Athens, Milan, Rome, and Vienna. This partnership is a testament to both airlines’ commitment to providing greater choice and travel flexibility across Southeast Europe.

More Choices, Flexibility, and Convenience on Air Serbia and Etihad Airways Codeshare Flights

Jurriaan Stelder, VP of Alliances and Industry Affairs at Etihad, said: “This partnership further expands our codeshare network and provides our guests with convenient access to 12 of Air Serbia’s leisure and business destinations, including Belgrade, Bucharest, Budapest, Thessaloniki, Tirana, Skopje and Sofia.

“We also look forward to warmly welcoming Air Serbia customers traveling from Europe to Abu Dhabi, where they will have the opportunity to explore the inviting hospitality and rich culture of our home, including the stunning beaches, world-class cultural landmarks, and theme parks, and the serene desert landscapes.”

Boško Rupić, Air Serbia General Manager of Commercial and Strategy, said: “By joining forces with Etihad we expand the reach of our services, offering our passengers a wider array of destinations and connectivity options.

“This translates into more choices, flexibility, and convenience for those who choose Air Serbia for their journeys. Passengers will now enjoy the ease of booking connecting flights and checking in once for their entire journey.”

Discover Enhanced Travel Rewards with the Etihad Guest Program

Travelers looking for exceptional rewards and benefits can find them in the Etihad Guest loyalty program, jointly offered by Etihad Airways and Air Serbia. This program allows members to seamlessly earn and redeem Etihad Guest miles across both airlines’ networks, elevating the travel experience through tier-status benefits and perks.

New Codeshare Flights Depart in February

New codeshare flights with Etihad Airways and Air Serbia will launch as early as February 3, 2024, for those eager to expand their travel horizons. This development will enhance flight options and streamline travel schedules for flyers across the globe.

Seamless Connections Across Destinations

Direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade are not on the current schedule for Etihad Airways and Air Serbia, but their strategic partnership promises effortless connections. Passengers can anticipate smooth transitions through European hubs such as Athens, Milan, Rome, and Vienna, making travel more convenient and accessible.

A Partnership Rooted in History and Future Cooperation

The partnership between Etihad Airways and Air Serbia has evolved since 2013 when Etihad Airways first invested in Air Serbia. Despite the Serbian government taking 100% ownership in November 2023, the bond through codeshare agreements endures. This partnership ensures continued exceptional service and broader networking options for passengers.

A rewarding travel journey is in store for those participating in the Etihad Guest program. With benefits across Etihad Airways and Air Serbia networks, travelers can savor a premium and connected flying experience.
