British Airways has announced an augmentation in its nonstop service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to meet increasing demand. Beginning April 20, 2024, the airline will introduce a second daily flight, enhancing connections between these iconic cities.
A Commendable Recovery for SAN
Amid the top 30 U.S.-Europe passenger routes, San Diego’s post-pandemic recovery has been commendable. In fact, present numbers reveal that San Diego–Europe passenger counts are up 12% from 2019, with the San Diego-London route experiencing an impressive 28% hike.
With this service expansion, British Airways seeks to capitalize on this buoyant demand, offering business and leisure travelers increased travel flexibility.
British Airways Flights to San Diego: All the Details
Since June 2011, British Airways has flown a daily non-stop flight between SAN and LHR. The current flights, BA273 and BA272, have now been rescheduled. BA273 will land in San Diego from London at 6:10 PM, taking off for London at 8:00 PM. The newly introduced second flight, BA265 and BA264, will touch down in San Diego at 3:25 PM and depart for London at 5:15 PM.
BA 264/BA265 will operate on 272-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft, and BA272/BA273 will operate on 214-seat Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
With this addition, the summer 2024 seat inventory on flights to London will significantly increase by 47% compared to the summer of 2023.
