Emirates and SriLankan Airlines Unveil Interline Partnership to Boost Global Connectivity

To enhance passenger connectivity, Emirates and SriLankan Airlines have forged a reciprocal interline agreement. This pivotal partnership will encompass 30 routes operated by both airlines, aiming to give travelers more options and greater convenience.

    Key Benefits of the Partnership:

    1. Expanded Route Access. Emirates customers will now have seamless connectivity and baggage transfers to two new Indian destinations – Madurai and Tiruchirapally, along with Gan Island in the Maldives via Colombo. Far East and South Asian destinations also include Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Malé, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Guangzhou, Seoul and Tokyo.
    2. Broadened Horizon for SriLankan’s Customers. SriLankan Airlines’ customers can travel effortlessly with Emirates on 15 key cities across the Middle East, the US, and other global destinations, with smooth connections via the airline’s Dubai hub. SriLankan’s customers will enjoy a premium travel experience and partnership benefits while flying on Emirates to Bahrain, Amman, Dammam, Medina, Cairo, Muscat, Nairobi, Moscow, Tel Aviv, and a host of US cities including New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Franciso, Chicago, Boston and Houston.
    3. Integrating these two networks under a single ticket system ensures that passengers benefit from convenient baggage transfers, further alleviating travel stresses. Travelers venturing to the US on Emirates and SriLankan interline tickets should note the requirement to clear their baggage with US Customs at their initial point of entry.

    More Choice and More Destinations

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are pleased to activate an interline partnership with SriLankan and provide our customers with more choice and access to additional destinations to suit their travel plans. This partnership enables customers to seamlessly fly to unique destinations in India and the Maldives, via Colombo. We look forward to further developing our cooperation in the near future and enhancing benefits that customers can enjoy when traveling with Emirates and SriLankan on one ticket.”

Echoing this sentiment, Richard Nuttall, CEO of SriLankan Airlines, commented, “We are happy to announce our renewed interline collaboration with Emirates. SriLankan is committed to providing connectivity to Sri Lanka from around the world. We work with many partners to access cities we don’t fly to. Emirates is a truly global airline with a long history in Sri Lanka. It gives us real pleasure to work with them. The partnership provides more options to connect to and from Sri Lanka, assisting Sri Lankan passengers at home and abroad. It also supports tourism growth to the Pearl of the Indian Ocean.”

Emirates has been a significant presence in Sri Lanka since 1986, flying over 11 million passengers to and from Colombo. Notably, Emirates remains the only international airline offering premium First Class services to this enchanting island nation.
