Recaro Aircraft Seating Celebrates 10 Years In China, Completes Phase III Facility Expansion
RECARO Aircraft Seating (RECARO) in Qingdao, China, recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Guests at the event, held on October 26, 2023, included customers, VIPs, suppliers, and the leadership team of RECARO.
Festivities included a lively dragon and lion dance performance, symbolizing strength and good fortune. A Golden Osmanthus tree was also planted to signify the enduring values and legacy of RECARO. The evening concluded with a gala dinner. The Long Service Awards, issued at the dinner, honored team members who had dedicated five to ten years of service.
“Reaching the 10-year milestone is an exciting accomplishment, not just for the Asia Pacific region but for overall RECARO,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. “The resilience of our colleagues in Qingdao, especially in recent years, is what sets RECARO apart. The 10-year milestone was particularly significant. It aligned with the completion of the third and final phase of the space2grow expansion plan. This expansion involved the acquisition of nearly 11,000 square meters of land in 2019. It allowed for the construction of new facilities to support the growing needs of RECARO. The company successfully completed the project within 12 months.
Irene Tan, the General Manager of RECARO Aircraft Seating in China, expressed excitement about completing the Phase Three construction project. “This gives us the space to further expand and support the future growth prospect of aviation in China, as well as the ramp-ups in the Asia Pacific region. I look forward to this new chapter with my APAC team.”
Since its opening in 2013, the RECARO Aircraft Seating facility in Qingdao has been an integral part of the company’s global strategy. The facility, which was the first international aircraft seat manufacturer to establish production in China, currently employs 160 dedicated professionals. With facilities in Germany, China, the United States, and Poland, RECARO Aircraft Seating maintains a strong global presence.
