This special moment marks the 20th anniversary of Etihad’s first commercial flight to Beirut in 2003. It symbolizes two decades of aviation excellence and the airline’s unwavering commitment to guests.

20 Years of Remarkable Growth
Since its launch, Etihad has experienced remarkable growth. The number of employees has grown from 1,761 in 2004 to nearly 10,000 as of 2023. Some notable achievements include a marked increase of members in the Etihad Guest loyalty program. The airline also grew its aircraft fleet to 79 planes and now flies to over 70 destinations worldwide.
The airline’s CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, expressed pride in Etihad’s accomplishments. “Our journey so far has been about more than flights. It has been about bringing people and cultures together, creating strong connections, and making Abu Dhabi a key travel hub,” he said. “Looking ahead, we have big plans. By 2030, we aim to double our fleet and welcome three times as many guests, reaching 33 million people each year. We will increase visitors to our home Abu Dhabi and continue to connect travelers across the globe through our growing network.”

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, Etihad is celebrating its journey by making significant enhancements to the guest experience.

First and Business-class passengers can enjoy retro-inspired amenity bags featuring travel-size beauty products from ESPA. Economy guests on medium and long-haul flights will receive complimentary limited-edition tote bags. These are full of in-flight essentials for a more comfortable journey.
The 20th-anniversary festivities come as Etihad moves to its new home in Terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport. As part of this move, the airline has opened stunning new lounges. They feature the luxurious ‘Constellation Bar’ and Liwan Global Dining Restaurant. The change reflects Etihad’s growth and commitment to exceptional service to its passengers.
