Iberia Names Its 10th A330-200 ‘Tokio’ In Honour of Its Latest Destination

Iberia has taken receipt of its 10th A330-200 aircraft, registration EC-MNL, which will serve long-haul routes to the Americas and Asia.

The airline has named the aircraft ‘Tokio’ in honour of the Japanese capital, which became one of the Spanish airline’s latest destinations, launched on 18 October of 2016, following approval of its inclusion in the Joint Venture between British Airways, Finnair, and Japan Airlines.

The ‘Tokio’ aircraft is configured with 19 Business class and 269 Economy class seats, and features the airline’s new cabin design.

All Business class seats get direct aisle access, and extend to a 2-metre lie-flat bed for a restful sleep. The seat also features 15.4-inch in-flight entertainment touch screens.

Passengers in Economy cabin are seated in 46 cm (18.11-inch) wide seats with a fully adjustable headrest and 9-inch touchscreen for in-flight entertainment.

In its in-flight entertainment catalogue, Iberia offers 60 in several languages, 100 television series and documentaries, 200 musical options, 16 video games, and a dedicated children’s entertainment channel.

Iberia also offers high-speed Ku-band in-flight Wi-Fi throughout the aircraft.

Iberia has placed an order with Airbus for 29 A330-200 aircraft in all, with aircraft deliveries scheduled through 2020.

The A330-200 fleet serves the airline’s new Madrid–Shanghai and Madrid-Tokyo routes, both launched in 2016. This aircraft model also serves other of Iberia’s long-haul destinations including Montevideo, Santo Domingo, San Juan (Puerto Rico), Havana, Rio de Janeiro, Medellin, Panama City, Boston and Miami.
