From Dreamliners to Dishware Qantas Goes Green

Qantas has focused on building a more environmentally-friendly fleet by reducing weight of aircraft and interiors, including the tableware onboard.

The airline shares statistics on the benefits of its green strategy in a new video released on YouTube.

The new tableware line is 11% lighter across the fleet, saving 535,000 kgs of oil annually which is equivalent to removing 695 small engine cars off the roads or enough fuel to drive around Australia more than 500 times. The resulting reduction in CO2 emissions is the equivalent of planting 10,000 trees. (Though, certainly go ahead and plant the trees anyway.)

Qantas has also launched a dedicated microsite which lets visitors explore its new Dreamliner aircraft. It’s fully interactive and fun. Plus, there’s a Quokka!
