United Returns to Beijing and Re-Starts Daily Flights to Shanghai

United will increase flights between the U.S. and China with a return to Beijing and increased service to Shanghai.

United has announced its plan to re-start daily flights between San Francisco and Beijing starting this November. The airline will also amplify its service to Shanghai by offering daily flights from San Francisco beginning October 1, 2023. The U.S. and China’s agreement to enhance flight connectivity allows United to expand its Asia Pacific timetable.

“We are grateful for this positive step forward in U.S.–China passenger air services,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances. “We thank the many officials from both countries who partnered to make this reinstatement of air service possible. This announcement is good news for United customers because we believe that a daily flight to Beijing and a daily flight to Shanghai from San Francisco is consistent with the demand we see in the market right now—especially since our ability to serve China nonstop from our mid-continent hubs or the East Coast is severely limited by Russian overflight restrictions.”

United.com and the United app offer flights to Shanghai, a pivotal hub in the East. United will publish the Beijing flight schedule within the coming week, currently pending government approval.
