Changi and Cairo Sign Airport Development Agreement

    In a significant development, Changi Airports International (CAI) and Cairo Airport Company have entered into strategic agreements. These aim to enhance Cairo International Airport’s operational capabilities and conduct a technical feasibility study for establishing a dedicated cargo and logistics area. 

    Changi Airports International, a global airport development and management leader, has formalized two agreements with Cairo Airport Company. This collaboration focuses on Cairo International Airport, a bustling aviation hub in Africa and Egypt’s largest airport in terms of passenger and cargo traffic.

    A Focus on Passengers and Cargo

    The initial agreement is passenger-centric and geared towards introducing effective solutions to elevate the passenger experience at Cairo International Airport.

    The ensuing agreement pertains to a feasibility study for creating Cairo Cargo City. This proposed new area within Cairo International Airport will become a center for cargo and logistics operations. 

    Enhancing the Stature of Cairo International Airport

    During his visit to Singapore Changi Airport, H.E. Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, expressed his optimism about this budding partnership.

    He stated, “This collaboration with Changi Airports International is a significant step towards enhancing the stature of Cairo International Airport. We firmly believe that CAI’s expertise will enable us to introduce world-class solutions to strengthen Egypt’s position as a prominent hub for passengers and cargo.”

    Mr. Magdy Ishak Azzer, Chairman and CEO of Cairo Airport Company, said, “Changi Airport is a global leader in aviation. We are eager to leverage CAI’s expertise and experience to bring about value-adding solutions at Cairo Airport.” 

    Mr. Eugene Gan, CEO of CAI, also expressed his enthusiasm about this collaboration. He stated, “Changi Airports International is thrilled to work with Cairo Airport Company. Given Cairo Airport’s status as one of Africa’s busiest airports, we see immense potential for growth. We look forward to introducing impactful solutions in the short term and fostering a long-term partnership with Cairo Airport Company.”
