Changi Pay Digital Wallet: Making International Shopping and Dining Effortless for Singapore Travelers

Traveling to China for Singapore residents is about to get a lot easier, especially for shopping and dining. A new feature on the Changi Pay digital wallet makes payments easy for travelers at millions of Chinese merchants.

This advance results from a strategic partnership between the Changi Airport Group (CAG), Liquid Group, and Ant Group. Their collaboration integrates the Liquid Group-issued accounts into the CAG’s digital wallet. Furthermore, with the Alipay+ ecosystem joining, payments are now possible at tens of millions of merchants across China. This collaboration has elevated Changi Pay, launched in 2021 by CAG and the Liquid Group.

Key Features of the Updated Changi Pay:

  • Convenience: Users can now effortlessly pay via the Alipay+ network at Chinese merchants.
  • Save Money: Changi Pay boasts attractive foreign exchange rates and zero transaction fees.
  • Rewards: Users receive e-vouchers when they shop in China, redeemable at Changi Airport upon return.

What is Alipay+?

Alipay+ is a suite of global cross-border payments and marketing solutions operated by the Ant Group. It enables digital payment acceptance across millions of merchants globally. Its reach extends to popular travel destinations. These include the Republic of China, Macao SAR, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and many more.

Getting Started with Changi Pay

To activate Changi Pay, travelers must download the Changi App and sign up with a Singapore-registered mobile number. A link-up with the Liquid account is required for payments in China. Exciting promotional offers await new users. With over 70% of outlets across Changi Airport’s terminals and Jewel accepting Changi Pay, it’s becoming the choice for travelers.
