However, the airline also warned of a schedule delay for the launch. Its inaugural journey from Tokyo (Haneda) to New York (JFK), originally scheduled for November 2023, is delayed to sometime before the end of the year. The airline attributes the delay to “a supply chain disruption affecting the delivery of components.”

Frankly, the aircraft interior does not match FlightChic’s original predictions—it far exceeds them. JAL selected Safran seating for premium cabins, with two exceptional new suite products: First and Business.

Class Configuration and Seat Capacity (compared to JAL Boeing 777-399 ER)

As predicted, the airline has reduced the number of First Class suites to accommodate more Business suites. Still, Japan Airlines is leaving a generous six First Class seats onboard. That is, compared to other carriers that have reduced First Class further. There are eight First Class seats on the JAL 777-300ER.

The higher number of Business class seats was as FlightChic expected. The decision to reduce Premium Economy by nearly half compared to the 777-300ER is a surprise. It is necessary because of the overall cabin space available. It also speaks to the airline’s perception that privacy is a more valuable priority for its passengers. In fact, the Premium Economy seats also feature a privacy screen, a unique feature in this cabin.
