Emirates and United Airlines have expanded their codeshare partnership to encompass nine Mexican destinations. For Emirates, Mexico City isn’t the only stop anymore. Eight other Mexican locales are now on the itinerary. This is a significant development as Mexico is the first nation outside the US to join this thriving codeshare roster.
In Brief
- Passengers flying on Emirates can connect to onward destinations in Mexico through United’s codeshare nexus.
- Beyond Mexico City, Emirates adds eight more Mexican destinations.
- Travelers enjoy advantages, including combined travel itineraries under a single ticket and streamlined baggage transfers.

From Dubai to Mexico with a Seamless Connection
Journeying from Dubai, Emirates’ passengers can land in two key US hubs, either Chicago or Houston. From there, they embark on their Mexican adventure. The newly added Mexican hotspots are Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato, and Queretaro. This expansion doesn’t just cater to those flying into Mexico. It also assists those flying out. Importantly, they can easily travel from these Mexican cities to multiple global destinations through Chicago or Houston.
Expanded Global Reach
Emirates’ clientele looking to reach Mexico City now have the luxury of more choices. They can opt for Emirates’ regular service from Dubai with a pitstop in Barcelona. Or book through the codeshare flights to Mexico City.
The growth of this network doesn’t just cater to the Middle Eastern audience. It is anticipated to draw customers from India, South Africa, and even further. The top international departures from Mexico cater to travelers from other countries. These include India, Israel, the UAE, South Africa, and select Southeast Asian regions.
With the latest inclusions, the codeshare network is truly global. The airlines boast 134 destinations, all stemming from United’s American gateways. Interline bookings allow travelers to fly to 100 more points across the US, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Codeshare Service Launches 14 September
For those itching to book their next trip, tickets to these Mexican gems are now up for grabs. Flights are listed on emirates.com and select travel agencies. Travel begins on 14 September.
Inside the Plane
Air travel doesn’t just end with destinations. Emirates ensures comfort with its flagship A380 aircraft for its daily Houston journeys, boasting its latest Premium Economy offering. Dubai to Chicago sees seven weekly flights on the wide-bodied Boeing 777, ensuring travelers have diverse options and seamless connections.
One of the significant benefits for globe-trotters? Planning their entire itinerary under a single ticket, with baggage allowances and straightforward baggage check-through procedures to the end destination. However, international flyers venturing to Mexico via Emirates and United’s codeshare initiative should note the baggage clearance procedures with US Customs at the first entry point, either Chicago or Houston.
Sharing Points
Last but not least, for the avid travelers enrolled in Emirates’ frequent flyer program, Emirates Skywards, there’s a bonus! Members can earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights. Yet another incentive to explore the vibrant landscapes of Mexico through this enhanced partnership.
Note: Interline flights on Emirates and United aren’t eligible for the Skywards Miles collection.
