Qatar Airways CEO Al Baker Steps Down, After 27 Years

    Qatar Airways Group confirms after 27 years of remarkable service, Qatar Airways Group CEO—His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker—will step down. His current position as Group Chief Executive ends effective 5 November 2023. Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer will succeed H.E. Al Baker as Group Chief Executive for Qatar Airways.

    Under H.E. Mr. Akbar Al Baker’s leadership as CEO, Qatar Airways has become a recognizable and trusted global brand synonymous with customer service quality and high standards for the passenger experience. Qatar Airways recently announced that it will will be the first global carrier in the world to offer free Starlink Wi-Fi on its aircraft.

    The national carrier of the State of Qatar has achieved an unprecedented seven-times win of the “World’s Best Airline” award. Its state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport, which is under its management and operation, has also been recognized as the “World’s Best Airport.”
