Am I Blue? Finnair Ditches World Famous Juice For Mars Red

Nordics in shock! Finnair has announced it will change its beloved blueberry juice to strawberry juice.

“We have served our signature blueberry juice onboard Finnair flights since 2014, but now it’s time for a change. We have decided to change our blueberry juice to strawberry juice as of 1 April 2024,” Finnair reports.

Finnair-branded blueberry juice has been served on the airline’s flights for a decade. It’s a wonderful link to the brand’s colors, and it’s delicious to boot. If you haven’t tried it, you’re truly missing something special. And..well, it might be too late now! That’s why today’s news is so very shocking for the many millions of Finnair flyers. The airline acknowledges it’s a huge passenger favorite.

“Our customers have enjoyed the beloved juice a lot—up to a million liters per year. However, we now want to offer our customers a new kind of culinary journey, so we have changed the blueberry juice to strawberry juice,” the airline states.

“What makes the new strawberry juice unique is the fact that the strawberries are collected by hand on Mars, where Finnair has offered direct flights from 1 April 2021.” Oh. Wait a minute. “For three years now, strawberries have been growing on Mars, and they are finally ripe and ready for juice production. Since the average temperature of the planet is -63 °C, the taste of the strawberries resembles more a frozen strawberry.” So, it’s perfect for Finnair’s freshly-made smoothies expected to launch next year on April 1.

Finnair also points out a unique brand tie-in to the red fruit: “Changing blueberry juice to strawberry juice is only logical, as after all, we have been Santa’s official airline for 40 years. The red color of the strawberry matches much better with Santa’s red clothes,” the airline says.

Santa started working as a Finnair pilot two years ago, on 1 April 2022. The jolly old man apparently needs something to do with the rest of his year, and piloting makes sense as he’s an expert high-speed flyer. “Santa Claus has brought a lot of magic and joy to Finnair flights, for children, adults, and colleagues alike,” the airline adds.

“Along with the brand-new strawberry juice, we’re also making other changes to our in-flight offering: in the future, Mars strawberries will be used in all our meals, together with the already familiar Nordic flavors,” Finnair promises.

So, there you have it! Finnair plans a new (likely very expensive) in-flight menu this very same time next year. At publication, the airline did not comment on whether it had struck up a partnership with SpaceX for transport.

An airline spokesperson replied only: “We hope this will bring a new kind of joy to our customers and a feeling of summer in the middle of this grey weather.”

Finns are cool. Happy April Fools!
