AAL Announces Largest European Expansion in Four Years

Looking ahead to 2024, American Airlines (AAL) is set to broaden your horizons with new routes and destinations coming next summer. Prepare to embark on adventures in three new European cities. Enjoy vibrant Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH); scenic Nice, France (NCE); and historical Naples, Italy (NAP).

This move is a testament to American Airlines’ ongoing commitment to constructing and enhancing a comprehensive global network. This marks the airline’s most significant European expansion in four years, designed to seamlessly take customers to their desired destinations.

Apart from Europe, American Airlines also plans to augment its already extensive winter schedule between the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Latin America. This expansion further cements its position as the leading carrier serving these regions.

As summer fades, it’s time to jumpstart your planning for next year’s summer vacation. American Airlines unveils four new routes and reintroduces a previously popular route, making this the airline’s largest trans-Atlantic expansion since 2019.

Expanding Horizons: Philadelphia’s Gateway to Europe

Anticipating the summer of 2022, American Airlines is set to offer an unprecedented 15 daily nonstop flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to 14 distinct European destinations. This marks the most expansive trans-Atlantic schedule from the City of Brotherly Love since 2019. In addition, the airline’s bolstered service to over 70 domestic destinations from PHL provides customers nationwide with a convenient one-stop route to the heart of Europe.

Starting May 6, American will introduce service between PHL and Nice (NCE), a vibrant gateway to the famed French Riviera. This timely launch ensures that customers can immerse themselves in the radiant allure of the nearby Cannes just as the city begins to sparkle with its summer festivities.

On June 5, American will inaugurate a fresh service to Naples (NAP), marking the airline’s fourth Italian destination. Whether it’s savoring authentic Neapolitan cuisine, exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii, or luxuriating in the sunny splendor of the Amalfi Coast, Naples presents customers with an authentic slice of Italian vacation.

Boosting Transatlantic Ties with More Flights

In a compelling move to expand its international presence, American Airlines is set to inaugurate its first-ever service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Barcelona (BCN) in the coming summer. This strategic expansion will further bolster AAL’s standing as the leading US airline connecting to BCN. With a selection of five gateways across the U.S., American delivers an unmatched schedule and network, propelling customers towards an immersive Barcelona experience.

In addition, American Airlines will distinguish itself as the sole airline offering a nonstop flight bridging the gap between Chicago (ORD), the Windy City, and Venice (VCE), the City of Water. This flight complements the existing service between Philadelphia (PHL) and VCE. The new flight from ORD will provide customers with enhanced schedule flexibility while enabling connections to over a hundred domestic destinations, notably including a greater number of Midwest cities.

Moreover, American has recently extended its service to operate year-round on several critical trans-Atlantic routes. These include Lisbon, Portugal (LIS), Madrid, Spain (MAD), and Rome, Italy (FCO). This move offers customers heightened flexibility when planning their European escapades in 2024.
