Terminal 5 has a new security checkpoint and an upcoming Nordic-styled Marketplace. The Marketplace will be completed by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Best Food Coming to Arlanda Airport

Dining options greatly influence the airport experience for travelers. Catering to the needs of future passengers, the restaurants and cafes in the Marketplace and gate areas will offer a wide range of choices to accommodate every budget. Passengers can explore diverse international flavors and local Swedish and Nordic cuisine.

Recently, Stockholm Arlanda Airport introduced several exciting new concepts for shops, restaurants, and cafes. Amongst these additions, Gateau, a renowned Swedish artisan bakery, will join the lineup. At Gateau, passengers can indulge in premium coffee and savor a variety of freshly baked breads, buns, and cakes. With a history dating back to 1937, Gateau follows a traditional French recipe for their bread. Currently operating in 30 locations across Sweden, Gateau will open four new units at Arlanda, including one at Marknadsplatsen, one in Terminal 5 gate area F, one in Terminal 2, and one in SkyCity.

“It has been important for us to ensure that there is a selection of options with a wide range of prices, where the ambition is to always offer good quality and value for money. We also want to spotlight the Swedish coffee culture – fika – and Gateau can contribute to that in a very positive way. We will have quality Swedish fika here,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, Chief Commercial Officer at Swedavia.

SSP has recently entered into a franchise agreement with Gateau, a brand owned by Fazer. This agreement will allow SSP to operate Gateau at Arlanda Airport. SSP is already an established player in the airport restaurant industry, managing various restaurants across different airports worldwide. In addition to Gateau, SSP has introduced new dining concepts like Craft & Draft, Cornelius Coffee, and a kiosk at Luleå Airport. Moreover, Malmö Airport will soon introduce four more exciting food and shopping options: Fika & Kiosk, Bistro & Bar, Husman, and the WHSmith kiosk.

“Over the many years we have been operating in Sweden, we have developed strong relationships with Swedavia all across the country. We know that passengers want to have truly local experiences when they travel, and these new concepts give them a genuine opportunity to experience the Swedish food and beverage culture,” says Björn Olsson, Managing Director of SSP’s Swedish division.
