Manish Malhotra said: “I am honored to have been allowed to design the uniforms for Air India. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the national flag-bearer and showcase the elegance and charm of Indian fashion. My aim was to create uniforms that capture the essence of India’s diverse culture and traditions while also embodying a modern and sophisticated look. By incorporating quintessential hues that are symbolic to India, I hope that these uniforms not only make the crew feel proud but also leave a lasting impression on the guests, representing the warmth and hospitality that India is known for.”
Cabin Crew Uniforms
The female cabin crew of Air India wears a stylish ombré saree with intricate patterns inspired by Indian heritage architecture. The sarees are available in aubergine-to-burgundy for senior cabin crew and vibrant red-to-purple for junior cabin crew. They feature matching blazers. Cabin crew can also pair the ready-to-wear sarees with slacks for added flexibility. These uniforms blend the traditional and modern, creating a unique East-meets-West look.
The ombré sarees, designed by Malhotra, exemplify his love for traditional attire and gradients. The color palette includes deep red, burgundy, aubergine, and accents of gold, paying homage to India’s rich cultural heritage. These well-fitting uniforms allow the female cabin crew to comfortably perform their in-flight duties.
The male cabin crew wears practical and comfortable black Brogues. The female cabin crew has dual-tone (black and burgundy) block heels. Pearl earrings and sling bags complete the ensemble for the female cabin crew. These carefully crafted outfits reflect the grace and poise synonymous with Air India.
New Uniforms For Air India Flight Crew
The flight crew exudes professionalism and gravitas in their classic black double-breasted suits. They feature a print inspired by the Vista, the new Air India logo icon. This timeless design signifies the importance of the flying profession.
Malhotra has also curated a range of footwear that combines style and comfort. Air India’s cabin crew representatives and the In-flight Services team consulted the designers who developed the new uniforms. Their feedback ensures practicality and durability.
Air India’s new crew uniforms capture the essence of Indian heritage and hospitality, making a bold statement to the world. The renowned designer’s work extends beyond the cabin crew and pilots, encompassing ground staff, engineers, and security personnel.
