Etihad Airways Reports January 2024 Passenger Surge and Network Expansion
In January 2024, Etihad Airways experienced a significant increase in passengers. The airline reported a 35% year-over-year growth, with 1,463,771 passengers choosing to fly with them in January 2024. That is compared to 1,082,828 passengers served during January 23. This marks a significant turning point for the airline as it continues to expand its global reach.
Maintaining Robust Load Factor
Despite the higher number of passengers, Etihad Airways managed to maintain a sturdy passenger load factor throughout the month. On January 24, the load factor stood at 86.04%, a slight decrease from January 23, which recorded 87.7%.
Growing Fleet and Destinations
As part of its growth strategy, Etihad Airways has increased its fleet size to 85 aircraft as of January 24, an uptick from 71 the prior year. Moreover, the airline now serves 69 destinations worldwide, five more than the 64 destinations catered to in January 2023.
CEO Insights on Expansion
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed excitement over the company’s growth. “We are meeting customer demand by adding more flights to key destinations, and Etihad is now offering almost 27% percent more weekly departures for Summer 24 compared to last summer,” he said.
“We began the year by launching daily flights from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Kozhikode (CCJ) and Thiruvananthapuram (TRV) in the Kerala region of India, taking our total number of Indian gateways to 10.
“We are proud to have welcomed 1.4 million guests to our new home, Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, and we eagerly anticipate introducing more of the world to the new airport and the onboard Etihad experience throughout 2024 as our network and frequencies continue to expand.”
New Routes to India
The airline began the year by introducing daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram in India’s Kerala region, pushing the number of Indian gateways to ten. These additions showcase Etihad’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and India.
Etihad Airways Anticipating Further Passenger Growth
Proud of welcoming 1.4 million passengers to Abu Dhabi’s new Zayed International Airport, Etihad Airways looks forward to a year of continued expansion. The airline promises to introduce more travelers to its top-notch services and the modern amenities of the newly inaugurated airport in Abu Dhabi in 2024.
For travelers across the globe, Etihad Airways remains a growing and dynamic choice for flying to many destinations while enjoying a comfortable and efficient travel experience.
Etihad Airways Marks the Renaming of Its Base to Zayed International Airport with Exclusive Offers
Abu Dhabi’s flagship carrier, Etihad Airways, joins in the historical moment as Abu Dhabi International Airport adopts a new name, Zayed International Airport. The rebranding is a nod to the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It coincides with the recent inauguration of the advanced Terminal A in November 2023—Etihad’s designated ultramodern hub.
Reflecting on the name change, Arik De, the Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, stated, “We take immense pride in our home, Abu Dhabi, which is the perfect hub from which to explore the world. We’re forever grateful to the vision of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We proudly join these celebrations as our home airport is renamed in his honor.”
