Norwegian Launches New Self-Service Options At Airports

In recent weeks, Norwegian has been testing new functions at the self-service kiosks at airports. Several thousand passengers have already taken advantage of the opportunity and seat booking is a clear winner among passengers. In addition, the Norwegian app has received a major update.

At the beginning of March, travelers with Norwegian could see changes at the self-service kiosks at Gardermoen. Besides the new logo, the airline has added several options. Among the most popular, you order a seat at check-in in the kiosk.

“We have been testing seat ordering at a kiosk for a little over a week, and see that the customers have so far accepted the upgrade with open arms. This has been particularly popular, but we also see that the possibility to add luggage, Fast Track in the security control and Priority Boarding are to the taste of the passengers,” says Knut Olav Irgens Høeg, executive director for IT and Business Services at Norwegian. “Norwegian is committed to being continuously innovative in the development of user experiences. Parallel to the rebranding, there will be several technical upgrades with the goal of making flying even simpler for our customers.”

Norwegian says that they have already rolled out the solution at most of the airports where they operate flights.

Adding a New Profile and More Functions on the Norwegian app

The upgraded Norwegian app should lead to a faster, easier, and more user-focused experience. The goal of the update has been to ensure high quality both in terms of content and aesthetics.

“We see that steadily more people are using the app both for ordering, during and before the trip. That’s why we’re very happy to launch a new version of the app that makes better adjustments to include previous browser-based features. This is solely about making the user experience better for our customers,” says Høeg.

In addition to a technical upgrade, the app has been rebranded with Norwegian’s new logo, fonts, and colors. The design has also been greatly simplified, both to work faster and to be more clear.
