RECARO Aircraft Seating has embarked on a pioneering venture by partnering with Eve Air Mobility. This collaboration entails the first-ever installation of RECARO seating solutions aboard an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The aircraft seat manufacturer announced its agreement with Eve Air Mobility to design, certify, and produce specialized seats for Eve’s innovative eVTOL aircraft line. The deal involves a massive production run of 75,000 seats arranged in shipsets containing five seats each. RECARO will start fulfilling orders in the early months of 2025.
This is an important milestone in the company’s 51-year history as RECARO enters the eVTOL market.
“The success of a project like this is only possible when there is a strong collaboration, just as there is between RECARO and Eve Air Mobility,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. “eVTOL aircraft represent an exciting new chapter for air transport, and I am confident that RECARO is well-equipped to navigate it, as our strengths in lightweight design, superior quality, and outstanding ergonomics fit perfectly into the eVTOL segment.”
Eve Air Mobility’s Revolutionary eVTOL Aircraft
Eve Air Mobility is at the forefront of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology, pioneering an innovative 100% electric aircraft poised to redefine urban air mobility. With an impressive 100-kilometer (60-mile) range, Eve’s eVTOL is proficient in executing diverse urban flights efficiently. The aircraft’s unique lift + cruise design integrates dedicated rotors for vertical takeoff and landing and fixed wings that provide stable and energy-efficient cruising. At the onset, these eVTOLs will operate with pilots. However, Eve is working on the technology to transition towards autonomous operations in the future. Eve Air Mobility plans to launch into the market by 2026.
