Cathay Renews Support for Youth with the Hong Kong Strive and Rise Programme
Cathay Pacific continues its support for young talent in Hong Kong. Its latest event engaged over 600 students and mentors at the exciting Cathay Aviation Exploration Open Day. It is part of the Hong Kong Government’s Strive and Rise Program. Cathay is a key supporter for the second year.
The Strive and Rise Programme helps young individuals expand their outlook. It boosts their confidence, helps them adopt a positive mindset, and establishes solid future aspirations. Cathay nurtures the next generation and contributes to the vibrant future of Hong Kong’s aviation industry.
Kick-Off Ceremony at Cathay City
The day began at Cathay’s global headquarters, Cathay City, with a Kick-Off Ceremony. Participants from last year shared their experiences. A career talk with Cathay’s Director of People, Patricia Hwang, followed, offering valuable professional advice. Participants also toured Cathay’s impressive facilities at the Hong Kong International Airport. They visited the heart of airline operations at Cathay City and the Cathay Cargo Terminal. They also toured the flight kitchen run by Cathay Pacific Catering Services.
The Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam hosted the Kick-Off Ceremony. The distinguished guest was Mr. Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Government.
Mr Chan said: “The Government would like to sincerely thank Cathay for its staunch support of the Strive and Rise Programme. Today’s Cathay Aviation Exploration Open Day is the first large-scale event of the second cohort of the program, helping to broaden the student’s horizons and provide them with a deeper understanding of the opportunities available in the aviation industry. I firmly believe that, with the joint efforts of the Government, the business sector, and the community, we can support young people to stand tall and reach new heights. I also believe that Cathay will continue to work together with the Government to enhance the competitiveness of the Hong Kong aviation industry.”
Cathay’s Ronald Lam said: “Cathay is proud of its deep roots in Hong Kong, and we are committed to making positive contributions to Hong Kong society, with our primary focus being on promoting youth development. This vision aligns with the principles of the Strive and Rise Programme, and we are delighted to once again be supporting this worthwhile initiative for the second consecutive year, reaffirming our commitment to nurturing local talent and supporting young people in pursuing their goals. We will continue to focus our efforts on developing initiatives to promote this worthy cause, aimed at providing opportunities for young Hong Kong people to explore a career in aviation while also strengthening Hong Kong’s international aviation hub status.”
