Copenhagen Airport Expects 1.1m Passengers for Winter Holidays

Copenhagen Airport Prepares for Holiday Rush with Over 1 Million Travelers

The winter holiday season is kicking off this Friday in Denmark and Sweden, and Copenhagen Airport is gearing up for a busy period. The airport expects more than a million passengers to pass through its terminals during the next two weeks, destined for sunny beaches in Thailand or the ski slopes in the Alps.

Excitement for Travel Peaks

“People are really excited about their ski and sun vacations. We’re looking at over 1 million travelers during the winter break, which is about 10 percent more than last year. It’s the most we’ve seen since the pandemic. We’re excited to welcome all these passengers and ensure they have a safe departure,” explains Lise Agerley Kürstein, Head of Communications and Press at Copenhagen Airport.

Tips for a Smooth Airport Experience

Copenhagen Airport recommends arriving two hours early for European flights and three hours for longer trips to ensure you catch your flight without a hitch. Checking in from home and using the self-service options at the airport can also save you time.

Ongoing Improvements at Copenhagen Airport

Travelers will notice that Copenhagen Airport is getting some upgrades. There’s a big project expanding the terminal area between Gates B and C. Once complete, more passenger space, new shops, dining spots, and an improved baggage claim area will be available.

“While we’re building, some shopping areas will be closed, but we aim to keep disruptions to a minimum. We’re focused on enhancing the travel experience for everyone passing through,” adds Lise Agerley Kürstein.

The new sections of the terminal are set to open in 2026, with the full project wrapping up in 2028. Meanwhile, passengers can enjoy new dining areas with various food options, from traditional Danish smørrebrød to burgers, between Gates B and C.
