Inside The Plane: LATAM Introduces New Boeing 787 Dreamliner Economy

LATAM Group Upgrades Economy Cabin on Boeing 787 Dreamliner Aircraft

LATAM group has revamped the Economy cabin on their Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, enhancing inflight entertainment options and redesigning the seating.

The upgrade features high-definition screens with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling passengers to use their headphones and explore a vast library of movies, TV shows, and music. LATAM values each Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cabin renovation at US$15 million.

“These enhancements position LATAM group at the forefront of the region in terms of onboard entertainment platform, alongside this renewed cabin, which reflects the unique spirit and pride of the incredible region. It’s about experiencing the warmth and hospitality of South America,” says Jaime Cornejo, Cabin, Onboard Entertainment, and Connectivity Manager at LATAM Airlines Group.

LATAM has introduced a new aircraft design incorporating seat upholstery made from 57% recycled leather. This choice reduces carbon emissions by 60% and significantly conserves water and land resources. Both wide and narrow-body aircraft within the LATAM group now feature this sustainable material.

The airline has also upgraded the cabins to enhance passenger comfort. These improvements include better headrests, a 6” recline feature, new 12” screens for the onboard entertainment system, and LATAM+ seats. These seats provide additional legroom, greater recline, exclusive luggage space, and priority in boarding and disembarkation.

The updates include an interactive 3D map from Panasonic’s Arc showing detailed ground views. In 2024, LATAM plans to upgrade four aircraft with this new design, investing US$60 million.
